  • GENERAL:  LLNS will provide delivery, security and site access requirements as applicable. Subcontractor shall coordinate with Participating Site Representatives as necessary.

  • DELIVERY AND SITE ACCESS:  Vehicles will be subject to search and delivery personnel will be refused access to the site if they are: (1) not U.S. citizens, (2) in possession of any prohibited items (For work at LLNL, refer to (https://www.llnl.gov/about/visiting - under the Restricted Items tab), or (3) accompanied by companions or pets.

    • Information and Hours:  

      • The Badge Office is open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.  

      • For anyone who has made arrangements to visit LLNL, the first stop is the Westgate Badge Office, located off Vasco Road in Livermore.

      • You will need a badge for admittance to the Laboratory. Be prepared to wait about 15 minutes for your badge to be issued. In addition to the requirements of the incorporated SECURITY AND SITE ACCESS PROVISIONS, individuals delivering to and/or entering the Participating Sites will be required to show a valid driver’s license from a jurisdiction that meets the requirements of the REAL ID Act of 2005, identify themselves as U.S. citizens, and provide other identifying information such as a social security number. Information regarding the REAL ID Act, its requirements, and a list of noncompliant states may be found at:  http://www.dhs.gov/real-id-enforcement-brief. If an individual holds a license from a noncompliant jurisdiction, they will be required to show a secondary form of identification (i.e., U.S. passport, U.S. passport card, or U.S. military ID card) in order to be granted access to the Participating Sites. You must wear the badge conspicuously at all times while you are at LLNL. The photo side of the badge must be visible, and it should be worn between your neck and your waist; you should not attach it to a belt. You must turn in your badge at the security checkpoint as you leave the Laboratory. Badged individuals may meet Department of Energy's requirement of completing the Uncleared Personal Identity Verification (UPIV) process which involves completion of an SF-85, OF-306, fingerprinting and identity verification.

        The Offeror is required to provide the following information to the LLNS Contract Analyst: names of persons attending (last, first and middle as shown on ID), date of birth, social security number, and the firm they will be representing.  Individuals must show proper identification prior to gaining access to Participating Sites.

      • COVID-19 Access Requirements:

      • Site access to Participating Sites is affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.  To ensure the safety and security of all persons on site and Participating Site facilities, the Participating Sites follow evolving directions from the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and other authorities.   Consequently, the Participating Sites’ operational modes are dynamic, and may change with or without advance notice. 

        For any site inspection at LLNL, Follow the guidance provided in the COVID-19 Site Access Requirements document found at the website: https://supplychain.llnl.gov/supplier-information/special-provisions.  Please note that the COVID-19 Site Access Requirements document is subject to change as guidance evolves.

        For site inspections at the Participating Sites, review the local Participating Site Guidance displayed on the Pre-proposal Website for applicable site access requirements.

      • Members of the news media should make prior arrangements with the LLNL Public Affairs Office before coming to the Laboratory. Using a camera or recording device without prior authorization is prohibited; see LLNL’s policies on photography and its rules on restricted and controlled items for more information.  

    • Location and Directions:

      • Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is located at 7000 East Avenue in Livermore, California, about 45 miles east of San Francisco. Use the appropriate link below to get directions from your current location.  

      • From the Oakland International Airport  

        • The Oakland International Airport is about 32 miles west of the Laboratory. Travel time from the airport to the Laboratory is about 50 minutes but can be longer during commute hours.  

        • Exit the airport and turn right on Airport Drive.  

        • Turn right at the intersection of Neil Armstrong Way to stay on Airport Drive.  

        • Turn right on 98th Avenue.  

        • Turn right onto the I-880 SOUTH on-ramp toward San Jose.  

        • Take the I-238 exit on the right toward Stockton/Fresno/I-580.  

        • I-238 turns into I-580 EAST.  

        • Continue EAST on I-580 about 20 miles past Castro Valley, Dublin, Pleasanton, and most Livermore exits.  

        • To go to the Lab's Westgate Badge Office, take the Vasco Road exit. Keep to the right at the fork in the exit ramp.   

        • Travel SOUTH on Vasco Road about 1.5 miles.  

        • Turn left at Westgate Drive, the fifth traffic light on Vasco Road.  

        • Take the first right to the Laboratory's Westgate Badge Office, which is the first building to the right before passing the guarded entrance. All visitors must check in at this office prior to entering the Laboratory's main site.   

      • From the San Francisco International Airport  

        • The San Francisco International Airport is about 50 miles west of the Laboratory. Travel time from the airport to the Laboratory is about 1 hour and 15 minutes but can be longer during commute hours.

        • As you exit the airport, take I-101 SOUTH toward San Jose. Drive about 6.4 miles.  

        • Take the CA-92 exit to Hayward/Half Moon Bay.  

        • Keep left at the fork in the ramp and take the CA-92 EAST exit toward Hayward. Continue east on CA-92 over the San Mateo Bridge.  

        • Take the I-880 NORTH exit toward Oakland.  

        • Take the I-238 NORTH/I-580 EAST exit.  

        • Keep to the right and take the I-580 EAST exit on the right toward Stockton.  

        • Continue EAST on I-580 about 20 miles past Castro Valley, Dublin, Pleasanton, and most Livermore exits.

        • Take the I-880 NORTH on-ramp. Drive about 7 miles.  

        • Take the CA-237 EAST/Mission Boulevard exit. Drive about 1 mile.  

        • Take the I-680 NORTH exit toward Sacramento. Drive about 16 miles.  

        • Take the I-580 EAST exit toward Stockton.  

        • Continue EAST on I-580 past Pleasanton and most of the Livermore exits.  

        • To go to the Lab's Westgate Badge Office, take the Vasco Road exit. Keep to the right at the fork in the exit ramp.

  • Technology & Prohibited Items on LLNL Site  

    • All types of video recording equipment, including digital cameras, film cameras, camcorders, commercial video recording equipment and any other equipment with video image recording capability, are considered controlled items.  

    • Privately owned video recording equipment may be brought into (non-classified) Property Protection Areas but must be turned off and secured (e.g., in a locked vehicle or a cell-phone garage). They may not be taken into any building, trailer, or (classified) Limited Area without a Controlled Items Permit. Any use of such equipment at LLNL requires a Controlled Items Permit.  
    • The following articles are prohibited from any area on LLNL property without prior appropriate authorization by the Security Organization:  
    • Explosives  

    • Dangerous Weapons (exception: Local, State and Federal Law Enforcement)  

    • Instruments or material likely to produce substantial injury to persons or damage to persons or property  

    • Mace/Pepper Spray  

    • Controlled Substances (e.g., illegal drugs and associated paraphernalia, but not prescription medicine)  

    • Other items prohibited by law  

    • Non-U.S. government owned computers and electronic devices are permitted in the Property Protected Areas but are not allowed within Limited Areas.   

    • Computers  

    • Tablets/iPads  

    • Digital players (e.g., iPods, MP3)  

    • Peripherals  

    • Smartphones  

    • eReaders  

    • Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs)  

    • Cell phones  

    • Personal electronic devices are prohibited from being connected to LLNL equipment without approval from the Computer Security Program. PLEASE NOTE: Personal devices are no longer allowed within Limited Area spaces. Personal electronic devices may be stored outside of Limited Area buildings within cell phone lockers or personally owned vehicles.   

    • Bluetooth and wireless headsets are not permitted in Limited Area buildings  

    • Non U.S. government owned cameras and recording devices may be brought on site but may not be used, including the function in a cell phone or other devices, without a Controlled Items Permit (CIP) issued by the LLNL Security Organization.  

  • The following articles may be stored in personal vehicles on site but are prohibited from use.  

    • Unopened alcoholic beverages with intact manufacturer’s seals or caps.  

    • Binoculars and telescopes
